CUMRU TWP., Pa. – A new family-run restaurant in Berks County is serving up a wide array of brunch specialties, from savory options such as creamed chipped beef, seafood omelettes and prime rib burgers to sweet selections such as acai bowls, Dubai chocolate French toast and Belgian waffle sundaes.
The Sunny Bistro, serving made-to-order dishes and drinks for breakfast and lunch, opened June 2 at 322 E. Wyomissing Ave. in Cumru Township, just outside Mohnton, according to Gino Billeci, who’s operating the restaurant with his wife, Alisha Billeci.

The full-service establishment occupies an updated property that previously housed Mangia! Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, which closed in March after 16 years of operation.
“From fresh avocado toast topped with poached eggs to sweet strawberry Nutella French toast, refreshing drink flights, and delicious acai bowls — there’s something for everyone at The Sunny Bistro!” reads a recent announcement on the business’ Facebook page.

The Billeci family operates several other Berks restaurants, including Blue Marsh Italian Restaurant on Bernville Road (Route 183) in Penn Township, Gino’s Café in Shillington, Bella Roma Italian Restaurant in Exeter Township and Rocky’s Pizza in Reading.
At The Sunny Bistro, guests can enjoy breakfast favorites such as steak and eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy, breakfast sandwiches on choice of bread and a “Gino’s Old Fashioned” platter (three eggs any style, choice of bacon or sausage, seasoned potatoes and toast); and griddle selections such as Belgian waffles, Nutella French toast and buttermilk pancakes with optional add-ins.
Other breakfast menu highlights include omelettes such as Greek, veggie, meat lovers and mushroom and spinach; Benedicts such as classic, crab, Florentine and steak; healthy options such acai bowls, avocado toast, smoked salmon lox and wild mushroom bruschetta; and sides such as Canadian bacon, scrapple, home fries and fresh fruit.
For lunch, guests can choose from starters such as wings (traditional or boneless), Buffalo chicken dip, pierogies and popcorn shrimp; and handhelds such as a grilled reuben, crab cake sandwich, club sandwich (roasted turkey or chicken) and Sunny Bistro Cheesesteak (shaved prime rib, caramelized onions and Cooper cheese on panini bread).
There are also soups such as chicken orzo and French onion; and burgers such as pulled pork BBQ bacon and “surf and turf” (smashed patty, fried shrimp, lettuce, onions and homemade remoulade sauce).

The Sunny Bistro also features specialty coffee drinks, including affogato, macchiato and cinnamon roll and tiramisu lattes, along with a full bar offering draft and bottled beer, wine by the glass or bottle and classic and crafted cocktails such as an espresso martini, old fashioned, cosmopolitan, margarita and mimosa.
The restaurant can accommodate large groups looking to host private events such as bridal and baby showers, birthday celebrations, family gatherings and business luncheons, and there is also a patio for outdoor dining.
