Lake Erie College and the James A. Garfield Alliance, a committee of The Garfield Trail, will present filmmaker Destry Edwards in a program tied to Chester Arthur, President James A. Garfield’s vice president.
This free event will take place at 5:30 p.m. June 25 at Lake Erie College’s College Hall Social Parlor, 391 W. Washington St. in Painesville, according to a news release. It will be presented by Edwards, who will tell the story of Arthur, and the women who believed he could rise to the presidency’s challenges following Garfield’s assassination. His award-winning documentary investigates these stories.
This program is open to the general public, but RSVP at www.garfieldtrail.org/event-list.
Edwards is the media production and studio manager at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. With a passion for both film and politics, he seeks to use storytelling as a way to bridge the gap between people and policy, the release stated.
