N. WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – One fundraiser happening Thursday in the Lehigh Valley includes a little friendly competition, as well as lots of running, ducking, and dodging.
It’s the Third Annual KidsPeace Dodgeball Tournament in North Whitehall Township. 69 News Reporter Sydney Kay has the story on how the game makes a big difference.
The tournament is being held on Thursday at KidsPeace’s Orchard Hills Campus. Kickoff is set to begin around noon. The event will feature music and food trucks, KidsPeace says on its website.
The funds the tournament raises will go towards supporting children and families KidsPeace supports, the organization’s website says.
KidsPeace Director of Development Elizabeth Ruggiero said the tournament has more sponsors and teams than ever before. She said 20 teams will compete Thursday, representing local companies and businesses, as well as first responders.
She said the event has 24 sponsors.
She said the organization loves that the event is becoming a staple in the community and something that people can look forward to and use as a team-building opportunity.
Bob Martin, Director of Communications/Engagement at KidsPeace, said the money raised will go towards buying items for the campus that helps kids just be kids.
He said the Orefield campus has a hospital and residential program. The organization’s volunteers have been able to get play structures and other improvements that help with kids’ well-being.
