Construction is officially underway on a major new hospice care facility that will expand end-of-life care services in the region.
Community leaders, healthcare professionals, and supporters gathered in McKean to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Julia House Hospice Center, marking a significant milestone after nearly $6 million in fundraising efforts.
The new facility will serve as a sister location to the Julia Palliative Care Center in Erie and is designed to provide a comprehensive range of hospice services for patients and their families.
Officials say the center will offer all levels of hospice care, from routine visits and symptom management to around-the-clock residential care for individuals with advanced medical needs.
Supporters of the project say the new center will help address a growing need for compassionate, specialized care while providing comfort and support for patients and loved ones during some of life’s most challenging moments.
The groundbreaking marks the beginning of construction on a project that community leaders say will have a lasting impact on families throughout Erie County and the surrounding region. Once completed, the Julia House Hospice Center will expand access to hospice services and continue the mission of providing dignity, comfort, and quality care at the end of life.
