After a school year filled with surprise classroom presentations and scholarship awards, students from across Erie, Crawford, and Warren counties are gathering for the annual Class Act Awards Banquet.
The event celebrates the monthly Class Act Award recipients, who were recognized throughout the school year for their leadership, academic commitment, character, and contributions to their schools and communities. During the banquet, one of the monthly winners will receive an additional $5,500 scholarship.
Students, families, school administrators, and community supporters are attending the event as organizers reflect on another successful year of honoring outstanding young people throughout the region.
Unlike traditional academic awards that focus solely on grades, the Class Act Awards recognizes well-rounded students who demonstrate leadership, community involvement, and a strong commitment to personal growth and success.
The program is made possible through the support of local sponsors, including VNET, Erie County Community College, Lilly Broadcasting, and Bethesda Lutheran Services, will host this year’s banquet.
The Class Act Awards were created through the vision of local philanthropist Jim Martin, who first brought the idea to Brad Whitman of the Intermediate Unit 5. Over the years, the program has grown into a unique regional partnership that highlights student achievement and provides scholarship opportunities to deserving young people across northwestern Pennsylvania.
