Just days after a home in Clinton Twp. exploded, more than 30 people turned out to plan a fundraiser.
A pasta dinner Sunday, Aug. 23, will benefit Rita Wasnowic, Fred Natale and their son.
Until recent years, Wasnowic, 84, was the oldest person taking ballet and jazz classes at the Dave Ragnacci School of Dance. Ragnacci organized the meeting.
The June 11 fire at the family’s home near Elk Lake in Wayne County is believed to have started in propane tanks.
“When this happened, I thought, you know, it’s time to give back,” Ragnacci said. “Because they have a big heart. They’re very, very kind people. They’re very good to people.”
Wasnowic donated scholarships for dance students and helped with Ragnacci’s wedding. A few years ago, Wasnowic threw a party she called a “dance prom.” “It was amazing,” Ragnacci said.
He has not spoken to the family, but heard they are staying with relatives and doing well.
The fundraiser will include raffle baskets and entertainment. It will be held Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center Camp Daleville in Covington Twp. Tickets are $25. Children under 5 are admitted free.
