ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Lehigh County district attorney has announced charges against a former Allentown police officer.
47-year-old Jason Krasley is accused of stealing money from suspects during police raids.
Krasley was a police officer from 2002 to 2021, and he turned himself in on Friday.
For much of his police career he was a member of the vice and intelligence unit.
The charges stem from an incident in 2019.
“Krasley allegedly stole $5500 cash while acting as an Allentown police vice officer. He concealed the theft of that cash. It is alleged that this occurred on May 16, 2019 in the 1300 block of Chew Street in the City Of Allentown,” said Gavin Holihan, the Lehigh County district attorney.
The incident is also described in a whistle blower lawsuit filed by two veteran APD officers earlier this year.
They said, as a result of their lawsuit, they faced retaliation.
The city of Allentown says the whistle blower lawsuit is without merit, and it looks forward to defending itself in court.
