ERIE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – Two children are hospitalized and one of them has been lifeflighted for life-threatening injuries after a car crash in Erie County Saturday afternoon.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Sandusky Post is investigating a crash between an ATV and an SUV that occurred in the eastbound lane of State Route 113 in Milan Township near milepost 10 at 1:45 p.m.
The Sandusky Post said the ATV was driven by a 13-year-old who was traveling northbound in a private drive.
They say the car, a 2021 Toyota Rav4, driven by Martin Klenk of Berlin Heights, was traveling eastbound on State Route 113.
According to the post, the ATV entered the State Route and was struck by the Toyota before catching on fire.
The Toyota traveled off to the left side and overturned, and struck a utility pole.
Both the 13-year-old and a 10-year-old passenger were transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
Highway patrol reports the 10-year-old sustaining life-threatening injuries and was lifeflighted to UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.
Highway patrol received assistance on scene from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, North Central EMS, Huron Township EMS, Milan Township Fire and EMS and Lucky’s Towing.
State Route 113 was closed temporarily for one hour and 50 minutes.
The crash remains under investigation, but the state route is reopened.
