The Philadelphia Phillies look to get back to their winning ways behind Cristopher Sanchez against the New York Mets on Saturday night at Citizens Bank Park.

Philly’s ace owns the second-best earned run average (ERA) in the National League at 1.82 ERA in 2026. He trails only Milwaukee’s Jacob Misiorowski (1.45 ERA) with a few weeks to go until the pitching group is selected for 2026 MLB All-Star Game in a few weeks.

Trea Turner is back atop the Philadelphia lineup after being removed after a hit-by-pitch in the first inning of Thursday’s loss to New York.

It was a precautionary decision from the Phillies staff to remove their starting shortstop from the contest.  “For me, the biggest danger with that [Trea’s injury] is him running differently,” interim skipper Don Mattingly said during Saturday’s pre-game meeting with the media. “Run into a hamstring or a hip [injury] or something like that. So, make sure that he can run.” 

The Phillies’ lineup returns to its normal form with Turner leading off with Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, and Brandon Marsh hitting directly behind him. Gabriel Rincones Jr. draws back into the lineup in right field and will hit seventh in the batting order. 

Phillies hitters will have to navigate Freddy Peralta, a pitcher who has had their number in recent outings. While his official record lists a 0-2 record and a 3.12 ERA over eight appearances against Philadelphia, the 30-year-old righty has been nearly untouchable in his last four appearances against Philly.

As a member of the Brewers starting group, Peralta has limited the Phillies to exactly two hits and eight strikeouts over at least five innings in one start against Philadelphia over the last three MLB seasons between 2023 and 2025. It has not been the smoothest first season in blue and orange for the Dominican pitcher, who brings a 5-5 record and a 3.90 ERA into his first battle against the Phillies this season. 

It is set up to be a beautiful night for baseball as the Phillies and Mets duel in the middle contest of a three-game set. The first pitch between Sanchez and Peralta is set for 7:15 pm ET under bright blue skies, setting up a perfect summer evening of baseball in South Philadelphia.
