One person is dead and another injured following a crash Saturday afternoon on the NYS Thruway.
It happened on I-87 Northbound near Exit 23.
A car driving in the left lane attempted to move into the right lane when it sideswiped another vehicle, state police said.
The first car then veered back into the left lane and rear ended a sedan, police said. The sedan hit then struck a guardrail.
The driver of the sedan hit was killed, police said. A passenger in that vehicle was taken to Albany Medical Center with injuries, according to authorities.
Two people in the car that was sideswiped were also taken to the hospital, troopers said.
Sobriety tests were done on the driver of the car that police say started the incident. No signs of impairment were found, according to police.
That driver is now charged with multiple vehicle and traffic law violations and the investigation continues.
