Berks County detectives have charged a Reading man after a monthslong child porn investigation that began with a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Jhosua Melenciano Vasquez, 19, turned himself in to detectives Tuesday morning and was awaiting video arraignment in the Central Processing Center at the courthouse.

He faces counts of child sexual abuse material and criminal use of a communication facility.

According to investigators:

The case originated in November 2024 when National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported that suspected child sexual abuse material had been uploaded to a Dropbox account. Detectives traced the uploads to a specific internet address and served an administrative subpoena on the internet service provider.

The internet address was linked to a residence in the 100 block of West Greenwich Street in Reading, investigators said. Additional subpoenas connected the defendant to the online accounts involved.

On Dec. 5, 2025, county detectives served a search warrant at the residence.

During an interview, Melenciano Vasquez admitted possessing child sexual abuse material on his cellphone, which was seized along with other digital devices.

A review by the district attorney’s Forensic Services Unit uncovered numerous images and videos of illegal material on the phone.
