A 15-year-old girl was killed after a camper caught fire Saturday morning at a campground in eastern Lancaster County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Dispatchers with Lancaster County-Wide Communications reported the fire at Roamers Retreat Campground in the 5000 block of Lincoln Highway (Route 30) in Salisbury Township shortly before 4 a.m.

According to a statement from state police, an initial report indicated the camper was fully engulfed in flames with an occupant trapped inside.

Multiple fire crews, led by the Pequea Valley Fire Department, arrived on scene and extinguished the flames shortly thereafter. The girl was found dead inside the camper.

State police fire marshals were called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available, according to State Police Trooper James Grothey.
