As Americans prepare to mark the country’s 250th anniversary on the Fourth of July, Scrantonians can also take pride in the important role our city played in building the nation. Scranton’s coal, steel and railroads helped to shape the country during the second Industrial Revolution. Landmarks such as Steamtown National Historic Site and architectural gems in our downtown serve as constant reminders of our contribution to the nation’s story. In this spirit, we celebrate with an event that truly lives up to its name, the Scrantastic Spectacular!
Meet Us On the Square
The Scrantastic Spectacular will be held on Friday, July 3, on historic Courthouse Square in Downtown Scranton. Family-friendly activities start at 4 p.m. and local bands will perform on the Scrantastic Side Stage. The Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic will perform patriotic favorites at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Zambelli Fireworks Display.

The Lackawanna Scrantastic Spectacular is presented by Lehigh Valley Hospital Dickson City, part of Jefferson Health. The event is sponsored in part by Scranton Tomorrow, Lackawanna County Commissioners, The City of Scranton, and Audacy Pennsylvania. July is Indie Month!
July marks Independents (Indie) Month, a nationwide movement to support independently owned businesses. Downtown Scranton is filled with unique shops, entertainment venues and a wide variety of restaurants and cafés that are independently owned. Historic sites and structures are located in and around the business district, too.
