The 37th annual Manayunk Arts Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday on Main Street in the Philadelphia neighborhood. Nearly 300 artists will be showing off their work, Canal View Park will host a place where visitors can try their hand at art. Nathalie Joachim, a Grammy-nominated performer and composer, is setting the words of Benjamin Franklin’s “Thirteen Virtues” in a new composition that will have its world premiere in Philadelphia this weekend. History celebration
Daniel Boone Homestead in Exeter Township, Berks County, celebrates America’s 250th anniversary Saturday from noon to 8. The living-history event from Daniel Boone Homestead Associates features Colonial and early American reenactors, music, demonstrations and activities, including programs geared to children. A recently unearthed cannon from the American Revolution will be on display.

Hospital reenactment
Ephrata Cloister in Lancaster County celebrates American’s 250th with a commemoration of its Revolutionary War military hospital. Activities take place Saturday from 10 to 4. The hospital operated from December 1777 to June 1778. Ephrata’s hospital accommodated 260 soldiers, and 60 are buried on the site’s grounds.
There will be reenactments, performances, family-friendly activities, lectures, demonstrations, music and more. Tickets will be sold only on the day of the event. Learn more at www.ephratacloister.org.

Players Club of Swarthmore, Delaware County, will present “A Celebration of Patriotic Sports Movies,” featuring Ray Didinger and Glen Macnow at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Didinger and Macnow, authors of “The Ultimate Book of Sports Movies,” will look at sports movies featuring themes of Americana. Movies featured include “Field of Dreams,” “Sandlot,” “A League of Their Own” and “Miracle.”

The exhibition “By Design: The Worlds of Betsy James Wyeth” will be on display starting Saturday and running through Jan. 10 at the Brandywine Museum of Art (www.brandywine.org/) in Chadds Ford. Betsy Wyeth, wife of Andrew Wyeth, had a strong influence that shaped some of the most iconic artistic landscapes in Pennsylvania and Maine.
