When it comes to teams that need a wide receiver ahead of the trade deadline, the Pittsburgh Steelers are at or near the top of the list.

The Steelers’ pursuit for an adequate No. 2 wideout dates back to last season. This time around, Pittsburgh is looking to supplement a group led by DK Metcalf after trading away George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Steelers are indeed scouring the market for wide receiver help. He lists the Las Vegas Raiders‘ Jakobi Meyers, the Miami Dolphins‘ Jaylen Waddle and the New Orleans Saints‘ Rashid Shaheed as possible options for Pittsburgh.

“Speaking of trade market, Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers are also in the trade market (for a wide receiver),” Rapoport reported. “They’ve done this a couple of times.

“They traded for a wide receiver last year in Mike Williams,” Rapoport added. “They traded for DK Metcalf this past offseason. My understanding is they are looking for receiver help in advance of Tuesday’s 4 p.m. (ET) trade deadline.

“Couple of names to watch: Jakobi Meyers, Rashid Shaheed, the speedster from the New Orleans Saints, and maybe even Jaylen Waddle, though we addressed that earlier.”

What Rapoport addressed with Waddle is the fact that while the Dolphins are now at least more open to trading their best receiver after parting ways with general manager Chris Grier, the team still prefers to hold on to him and the Dolphins would need an offer that “blows them away” to make a deal.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds that Waddle is “highly unlikely” to be moved.

Shaheed and fellow Saints wide receiver Chris Olave have been mentioned in trade rumors a ton, but the expectation is Olave will remain with the Saints and he could even get an extension.

Shaheed is available, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, but the team is looking for a third-round pick in exchange for the deep threat, which is just an absurd asking price and one the Steelers aren’t going to meet.

Rapoport says that the Raiders are “open to dealing” Meyers, but there is hesitance there because Las Vegas is hoping for a strong finish to the season and trading Meyers wouldn’t help because the Raiders don’t have much behind him.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported on Saturday that the Raiders have “set a high price,” so they don’t seem too motivated to move Meyers at the moment.

If we had to guess, the Raiders’ and Saints’ asking prices for Meyers and Shaheed, respectively, will come down in the next few days, but we would not expect the same for Olave and Waddle.

Whatever the Steelers do, they need to do better than what they did in 2024, when the team acquired Mike Williams in a move that didn’t come close to panning out.
