More than 37,000 votes cast during early voting in Erie Co.

Election officials in Erie County say more than 37,000 voters cast their ballot during early voting this year.

According to the Erie County Board of Elections, 4,753 ballots were cast on the ninth and final day of early voting

Officials say 8,222 ballots were cast by voters registered in the city of Buffalo, which does have a mayoral race on the ballot.

Running in that race is Democrat Sean Ryan, Republican James Gardner, and independent candidate Michael Gainer.

It is the first open mayoral election in the city in more than 20 years.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
