Erie County’s premier summer softball tradition is back this weekend as 814 Elite hosts the 11th Annual Battle of Lake Erie Softball Tournament, running Friday through Sunday.
This year’s event is shaping up to be the largest and most competitive in its history, featuring 100 teams traveling from Ohio, New York, and across Pennsylvania to compete along the shores of Lake Erie. The tournament will showcase a full range of fastpitch divisions, including 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U, offering opportunities for athletes of all ages to take part in high-level competition.
Teams will compete in a three-game pool play format, with the top squads advancing to a single-elimination bracket on Sunday. Games begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday and continue throughout the weekend at several venues across the region, including Harborcreek Community Park, Walnut Creek Middle School, Mercyhurst University, Penn State Behrend, and McDowell High School.
By the end of the weekend, organizers expect a record 258 games to be played, drawing more than 6,000 visitors to Erie County and providing a significant boost to the local economy.
