OBITUARY

Thomas C. Brown, 79, a resident of Scranton and more recently, Moosic, passed away Thursday night at Oak Ridge Healthcare Center, Taylor. His wife of 30 years is the former Linda J. Padden. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy Melliand Brown. He was a graduate of South Scranton Central Catholic High School, Class of 1964. He was employed by the Bell Telephone Co. and was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Maddox for 6 years. He was a member of the Minooka American Legion Post. Tom was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. As Tom was a Harley owner, Tom often said ” It’s not the destination, it’s the ride.”

Also surviving are two daughters; Jenifer Dougherty and husband Michael, Scranton, and Kim Weaver and partner Erin Connelly, Scranton, a stepson Jeffrey Gibbons and wife Layla, Bethesda, MYLD., grandchildren; Kaylee Lyons, Paige Dougherty, Evelyn Weaver, Lily Weaver, Mason Weaver, Josie Gibbons and Archie Gibbons, a brother Donald Brown and wife Eileen, Gouldsboro, a sister-in-law Peggy Durkin, Scranton, and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM in Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph’s Church, 312 Davis St., by Rev. Paul McDonnell, O.S.J. Pastor. Inurnment Abington Hills Cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning at the church from 9 to 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or to the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children, 537 Venard Rd., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
