POCONO TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 9-year-old boy from Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County died days after being pulled out of a hotel pool in Monroe County, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio.
The child was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon, Buglio said.
Buglio said the cause of death is complications of drowning, and the manner of death was ruled an accident.
First responders rushed to the Days Inn by Wyndham on Hill Motor Lodge Road in Pocono Township around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The child was rescued from the pool, and bystanders and emergency responders initiated life-saving measures before the boy was taken to a hospital, according to Buglio.
Buglio said that due to the boy’s age and out of respect for the family’s privacy during this difficult time, the boy’s identity will not be released.
The investigation remains active and is being conducted by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center in cooperation with the Pocono Township Police Department and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
