The City of Erie is asking residents to help shape the future of its parks and public spaces.

Officials have released the draft “Erie Outside” plan for a 30-day public comment period.

The long-term plan outlines goals for improving parks, recreation and open spaces over the next 20 years, including recommended projects, funding priorities and future investments.

City leaders said the draft was developed using feedback from residents over the past year through surveys, workshops and community events.

Now, the public can review the plan and submit comments through July 21 before a final version goes before the planning commission and city council later this summer.

“Making sure that we heard from the public was the number one priority in this plan, as well as that it was rooted in a real equity lens,” said Jackie Spry, bureau chief of planning and zoning for the City of Erie.
