A Philadelphia man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in Delaware after his car caught on fire on the highway, according to the Delaware State Police.
Troopers were called to the northbound lanes of Interstate 495 near East Holly Oak Road in Wilmington on June 24 around 10:50 p.m. after it was reported that a vehicle was on fire, police said.
When the troopers got to the scene, they found a Subaru Outback completely engulfed in flames and saw a man walking away from it, officials explained.
The troopers stopped the man and identified him as 27-year-old Isaiah Church, according to authorities. When they searched Church they said they found a loaded 9mm handgun and two large-capacity magazines on him.
As he was being taken into custody, troopers said they saw signs of impairment and figured out that Church had just consumed alcohol.
He was charged with possession of a large capacity magazine, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and other related offences.
He was arraigned and released on a $6,3000 unsecured bond.
