Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott has not practiced the last two days and is questionable to play against the Cincinnati Bengals with a personal issue. Elliott missed two games with a knee injury this season.
He did not practice the last two days while being designated as ‘rest’ by the team, until popping up with the personal designation on Wednesday. Now, he is in danger of missing the team’s Thursday Night Football game.
If he is out, that would give way to Chuck Clark and Jabrill Peppers having bigger roles in his absence. Clark was inactive last week while Peppers played ten defensive snaps. Peppers started against the New England Patriots in Elliott’s place.
Elliott has been a key communication hub and presence for the Steelers on the back end of their defense. Since his return, he has been used as a critical blitzed that gives the Steelers a ton of flexibility to do as they wish on the back end.
The Steelers will also be down safety Miles Killebrew, who is their special teams captain. He has a significant knee injury that will likely keep him out even beyond this week after going down in a heap on a kickoff against the Browns.
