PALMER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police in Palmer Township are trying to identify a man seen in surveillance footage Wednesday night stealing a Pride Flag and Juneteenth flag from the flagpole at the Palmer Library.
On Wednesday, just before midnight, someone lowered and stole the two flags that were flying on the Township’s municipal flagpole, according to police.
Police shared a photo of the person from the surveillance footage, noting that they were dressed in a manner that suggests they were “choosing to hide rather than engage.”
Police say this was not just vandalism, but an attack on “our shared civic space.”
“The Township condemns this theft in the strongest terms,” police said.
Officials say that the flags will be replaced for the time being.
Anyone with information on this theft is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Chris Watt either by email at cwatt@palmerpd.org or by calling (610) 253-5844 extension: 1205.
