A major expansion for a long-time Erie manufacturer.
Amatech officially opened a large addition to its Grimm Drive facility today, and company leaders say the investment is about keeping Erie’s economy strong and competitive. Amatech officially opened its newly expanded main facility — the company designs and manufactures custom reusable packaging for industries ranging from automotive to electronics and pharmaceuticals.
David Amatangelo says the company’s future is tied to Erie’s future.
“A bunch of people on the other side of this wall that are learning about their certificates from the EO program that we put in place, so it’s primarily the people that we have here why we want to stay here,” David Amatangelo of Amatech explained.
“With demand rising, Amatech says this new space lets them move faster — designing and testing reusable packaging all under one roof.” Stephanie Logue reported.
The project was built by MGM General Construction Group of Erie. While Amatech also operates in Columbus, Ohio, Mayor Devlin says the Erie expansion strengthens their ability to serve clients nationwide.
“Erie was built on these family-owned companies, manufacturing firms, kind of midsize, but they are the bedrock, they’re the foundation of our economy. So it’s incredibly important that these companies develop and change and grow, that we stand with them,” Mayor Daria Devlin shared.
Amatech has been at the Grimm Drive location since 1998. This expansion positions them for the next generation of growth.
