ALSACE TWP., Pa. – Break out your tweed and slip on your kilt, because it’s the 20th anniversary of the Berks Celtic Festival, hosted by the Berks Irish with the Reading Liederkranz.

In honor of the milestone, it’s their first ever 2-day celebration here in Alsace Township.

“It’s just great, because when it’s bigger, it’s better, and you can share more in two days,” Jeff Wertz, a chairman of festival, says the goal is to share their culture. “It’s just a celebration of all Celtic heritage and showing the community what we’re all about,” said Wertz.

The festival has 52 vendors this year, selling all types of Celtic wares.

“It’s just a great festival with great people. Carin Stunz has been a vendor at the festival for 10 years. “Everybody’s happy and just having a good time.’

She says there’s always so much to enjoy. “The entertainment is phenomenal. The food is really good,” said Wertz.

And there’s tons of entertainment, from Irish step dancing to live bands.

“I love the music. I love the music here.” Carl Schupp has been coming for 10 years in his Irish best. “I love coming here. Great chance to celebrate Irish heritage, and they do a great job every year,” said Schupp.

And Saturday there’s even more fun, with Irish dance lessons and a kilt contest.
