SPRING TWP., Pa. – A 78-year-old Mohnton man has died after his bicycle was struck by a vehicle.
The Berks County Coroner’s office was notified of John Barton Renninger’s death by the emergency department at Reading Hospital at 3:06 p.m. Friday.
Officials say Renninger was riding eastbound on Route 724 in Spring Township when a westbound vehicle attempted a left turn onto Cloister Court and struck him. He was wearing a helmet, but sustained fatal injuries in the collision.
The Berks County Coroner ruled the death as accidental, and says the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
