PITTSTON — David Roxby was recently awarded a Quilt of Valor by the Northeast PA Quilts of Valor Chapter at a ceremony held at his home in Pittston.
The handmade patriotic quilt recognizes the awardee for the sacrifices made during his service to our country.
Roxby, who graduated from Pittston Area High School in 1986, joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in November 1985 and received basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia.
During his service, he was assigned as an infantryman attaining the rank of EA Private First Class. He was honorably discharged in November 1988.
The honoree was nominated for the Quilts of Valor by his father, George, who was recognized several years ago by the Quilts of Valor for his four years of service in the U.S. Air Force.
The quilt is among more than 200 quilts awarded to local veterans by the Northeast Chapter Quilts of Valor since its formation in 2020. The handmade patriotic quilt provides tangible comfort, healing, and a thank you for serving our nation.
