The department said you should never leave kids or pets in a car, and is encouraging residents to check on their neighbors and those without air conditioning. Cooling centers will be open Monday through Thursday (July 2) throughout the county to provide relief from the heat. Unhoused adults may go to Second Avenue Commons every day, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Families experiencing housing instability should call the Allegheny Link (1-866-730-2368).
