Turning our attention to big heat and humidity for the upcoming week, I’ll show you just how hot it will feel with 4 impact days in *** row. That’s coming up in the forecast. And police are searching for multiple suspects after two teenagers were shot in Rankin. Coming up, why one group says this could have been prevented. Attacks continue despite an interim agreement between the US and Iran. I’m Jackie Debusco in Washington with what it means for peace negotiations. And Pittsburgh volunteers sending help to Venezuela. The local relief effort underway right now to help earthquake victims. Pittsburgh’s action moves forward this morning starts now. Well, good morning to you. It’s 9 o’clock. I’m Ava Rash, and we want to kick things off with Pittsburgh’s action weather meteorologist Jill Sweat and your certified most accurate forecast. Of course, Jill, dealing with another impact day, and we’re going to be seeing *** few of these right today. It’s more about what’s going to be falling from the sky. Later in the week. It’s going to be how it feels. We’ve got some intense heat and humidity coming our way, but as you work through this afternoon, can’t rule out some scattered thundershowers. Nothing severe, but certainly some big downpours, maybe some loud boomers as well. We’ll talk about the timing here in just *** second and then Thursday. Through Friday, at least right now we have them all as impact days, but we very easily could upgrade those to alert days with feels like temperatures that will be in the triple digits for an extended period of time across western Pennsylvania. Most of the dense fog right now confined into Allegheny County, starting to see *** little bit more of downtown and the North Shore with action cam also the Parkway east, but some areas still *** little shy tucked behind some of those low clouds this morning. As we continue over the next couple of hours, we will see those conditions improve. On our way to the low 80s in most neighborhoods this afternoon. Again, that scattered shower, thunderstorm chance can’t be ruled out after about 2 o’clock today. That will extend through sunset. Downpours would be your biggest impact if you’re going to be out and about this afternoon. We take *** break from the impact days, but the heat and humidity start to crank. Tomorrow we’ll be approaching 90 degrees, then we settle into *** long stretch with high temperatures in the mid 90s. It’s that area you can wear that can make that heat more dangerous. I’ll be breaking down the feels like temperatures with your. 40 plus 4 more coming up in *** few minutes. All right, thanks so much, Jill. And with the heat on the way, Allegheny County issued *** code red heat advisory for tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They’re telling people to seek shelter and check on elderly relatives and neighbors. 5 cooling centers will be open as well tomorrow through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those are located in the Healthy Active Living centers in Beach View, Greenfield, Homewood, Sheridan, and the South Side. We have some new details about *** crash involving *** Pittsburgh police cruiser in Allentown. Pittsburgh Public Safety says an officer was driving on Arlington Avenue last night, heading to *** call with lights and sirens on. *** car pulled out from Knox Avenue and, and the officer hit it, causing the car to crash into *** telephone pole. Officials say both drivers were taken to the hospital in stable condition with minor injuries, and so far no charges are expected to be filed. New this morning, Pittsburgh police found the car involved in *** deadly hit and run in East Hills last Thursday. Public safety officials tell us this great Toyota Prius has been recovered. That man was hit on Bennett Street near Oakwood. The first driver stopped, but the second driver, once that first hit happened, left the scene. The driver of the Prius then pulled into an alley and stopped but left about 2 minutes later. The man died at the scene. His name has not been released just yet. Police are still looking for the driver. Allegheny County police are still looking for as many as 4 suspects wanted in connection to the shooting of 2 teenagers in Rankin. It happened yesterday afternoon near Mount Olive Baptist Church. According to police, one of the victims ran to the church to get help. It appears the victims were on foot when information we have is 4 unknown actors approached them and shot multiple times. Police say the suspects were wearing masks. They later issued an alert for *** stolen black Kia that might be associated with the shooters. The shooting comes just days after the closure of the Woodland Hills Impact Center, which was housed in the former Rankin Elementary School. The center was shut down after funding lapsed. When we talk about the impact center being open and the need for it, this is why, because some of these guys, some of these young, um, kids that were shot usually be in the center. And so, that’s why we’ve been saying for the past few days, the importance of that center being open. The Rankin mayor issued *** statement saying she’s heartbroken over the violence and urged anyone with information to step forward. Next for us this morning, the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh has 5 new priests. It’s the first ordination ceremony for Bishop Mark Eckman and the largest class in several years. The new priests come from *** variety of backgrounds, including civil engineering, communications, food technology, and pharmacy. They will celebrate their first masses today and have been assigned to parishes across the diocese beginning in July. Now to Pittsburgh’s South Side. Organizers are celebrating another successful weekend of the South Side Street Festival. The party wrapped up around 2 o’clock this morning. We spoke with attendees and vendors who say they feel safe with the extra security measures in place. I started talking to um one of the police officers, and he reassured me that I was fine. Everybody goes through *** metal detector. They have to. 21 and over, so I think that’s amazing because I feel like that brings more security into the community as well. They said it was over 300 police officers here, state troopers, drones, all that jazz, so I can’t feel any more safer. We got right in. They came up. They gave us the wristband. I think, I think the security is *** good thing. So we’ll give it *** couple more weeks, but I think it’s good for the south side. The south side needed it. The summer block parties run from 10:00 at night until 2:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday through September 12th. *** unique way to see Pittsburgh returns today. We’re talking about Open Streets PGH. The free event opens up miles of Pittsburgh streets so you can walk, run, bike, skate, and explore spaces usually taken up by vehicles. The event begins this morning at 10 o’clock, so in just about an hour, and runs until 2:00 p.m. The two mile journey runs from downtown to the south side. We’re actually going to put *** route map up on your screen. You can see it right there. Some roads along the course are closed from now until 3 p.m. The Armstrong Tunnel and South 10th Street Bridge are closed in both directions until 2:00 p.m. And *** heads up for PRT riders, service and schedule adjustments take place today. PRT makes the adjustments 3 times *** year. This time, about 38 bus and T routes are affected. Some times are changed, and service is increasing on some busy routes. Weekend light rail service will also see some improvements. PRT is advising riders to check their website for *** full breakdown of the changes. Well, the countdown continues to the Parkway East closure, which will impact thousands of drivers. We are just 12 days away until it shuts down for 25 days as part of the Commercial Street Bridge replacement project. So starting tomorrow, Commercial Street will shut down. As crews begin preparing for the upcoming demolition of the existing bridge, this all begins at 7 in the morning. Then Forward Avenue and the 9 Mile Run Trail will also close. The closures will remain in place for the duration of the Parkway East closure up until August 3rd. Last Thursday and Friday, crews conducted successful test slide operations on the new bridge. Pendo officials said they lifted it, set it down, made adjustments, and lifted it up again to ensure everything reacted as expected. Switching gears now, the US and Iran continue to exchange fire this weekend despite an interim agreement aimed at ending the war. This all while negotiations continue. Washington correspondent Jackie DeFusco joins us from our DC bureau, and Jackie, how could this impact peace talks? Both sides are accusing each other of violating the ceasefire, and Iran is now threatening to halt peace negotiations if the US continues its strikes. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard also today launched new attacks throughout the region. This residential building was hit in Bahrain while Kuwait, home to *** US Army base, says incoming missiles were intercepted. It comes after the US launched *** 2nd round of air strikes on Iranian military targets on Saturday. US Central Command called it *** response to continued Iranian aggression against commercial shipping after accusing Tehran of attacking an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump warned Saturday that there could come *** point where the US may be forced to finish the job militarily, as he put it, adding, quote, If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist. In Washington, I’m Jackie Deusco, Pittsburgh’s Action News 4. All right, thank you, Jackie. President Donald Trump says he’ll nominate *** former Oklahoma state trooper to lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Trump announced that Lance Schreyer, who is also *** Marine veteran, is his choice to lead the agency. In *** social media post, the president called Schreyer *** proven leader who has firsthand experience getting illegal immigrants off the streets. Right now hundreds of rescue workers from around the world are searching for survivors following those massive back to back earthquakes in Venezuela. *** team from Spain found one man alive yesterday. He’s been under the rubble for 3 days. In other cases, the victims have not been so fortunate. The death toll is growing, but rescue teams are holding out hope. I understand that over time the chances for survival are less and less, but those decisions will be made as the circumstances evolve. We’ve all seen examples where people have survived much longer than ever expected, and that one miracle that we can we can bring home, that’s the one we’re shooting for. At this point, more than 1400 people died in the earthquakes and tens of thousands are missing. The region has experienced more than 430 aftershocks since Wednesday. The Venezuelan community in Pittsburgh is coming together to help the people who are suffering from those earthquakes. Volunteers gathered at *** local restaurant to collect supplies and donations for the country. Some of those volunteers are helping others, knowing they have lost people they love. Anchor Chandy Chapman has more on those efforts. Pittsburghers coming together to help people in need. It’s common in the steel city. This time the Venezuelan community is doing what they can to lend *** hand to people in. By earthquakes that rocked the country, the massive amount of people that are underground, there are more than 100 buildings that fell completely down. Volunteers gathered at the Pavillon restaurant in Banksville to load up *** truck with supplies, things like diapers, baby food, shampoo, gloves, and masks, all heading to Venezuela because so many no longer have homes. There’s going to be easily half *** million. People without *** home, homeless, so we are sending *** lot of food, *** lot of clothing, but our friends in Venezuela are telling us to do. For some, this mission of volunteerism is personal. We all have relatives there, significant ones, and we are in contact with them. Some people here have lost relatives or important people for them. That was Chandy Chapman reporting this particular truck will head to Miami today or tomorrow and be sent to Venezuela from there. Organizers say they will continue to help the people of Venezuela for as long as anyone needs them.

An e-bike rider was taken to the hospital after officials said they hit into a vehicle that was making a turn in Pittsburgh’s South Side on Sunday. Officials said a man who was operating an e-bike hit into the vehicle’s passenger side as it made the turn. Safety officials said the driver of the vehicle got out of their car briefly and drove away from the scene. The incident was caught on city cameras and witness footage, authorities said. The e-bike rider was taken to the hospital in stable condition. We’re told he suffered minor injuries to his arm. It is unclear if any charges will be, or have been filed. Pittsburgh Public Safety officials told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that a vehicle was heading outbound on East Carson Street when it began making a right turn onto 14th Street towards the Slopes.
Officials said a man who was operating an e-bike hit into the vehicle’s passenger side as it made the turn.
Safety officials said the driver of the vehicle got out of their car briefly and drove away from the scene.
The incident was caught on city cameras and witness footage, authorities said.
The e-bike rider was taken to the hospital in stable condition. We’re told he suffered minor injuries to his arm.
It is unclear if any charges will be, or have been filed.
