Observed trays with food stored directly on the floor in walk-in cooler area, rather than 6 inches off the floor as required. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the walk-in cooler, is not being date marked.

•China Palace Restaurant, 1013 Commerce Blvd., Dickson City. Most recent inspection: June 8. Inspection type: regular. Violations: floor in the kitchen and underneath storage area of the food facility is dirty and in need of cleaning. Rodent droppings observed along floor wall juncture in the dry storage area. The person in charge to implement a pest-control program. Non-food contact surfaces of on fan guards not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil.

•Gio’s Pizza Co., 1249 Commerce Blvd., Dickson City. Most recent inspection: June 5. Inspection type: regular. Violations: floor area of the food facility is dirty, dusty and in need of cleaning. Facility provided a sample to a costumer without using suitable utensils or an appropriate dispensing method to prevent contamination. Reviewed proper methods for corrective action. Raw eggs stored above ready-to-eat foods in reach in refrigerator.

•Hooked on State Street, 1000 State St., Unit 4, Clarks Summit. Most recent inspection: June 10. Inspection type: regular. Violations: two-door refrigerator was observed at 60 degrees F during this inspection. Unit is used for produce. Facility will not use for any temperature-controlled foods until unit can maintain a temperature of 41 degrees or less. Observed tuna in ROP packaging under refrigeration. Packaging shall be opened once tuna is removed from the freezer for proper thawing. Packaging was opened during this inspection.

•International Deli & Grocery, 1102 Cedar Ave., Scranton. Most recent inspection: June 18. Inspection type: regular. Violations: steam table display overfilled, resulting in top food items being slightly too cool; items were reconditioned in time as to not require disposal. Discussed several options to prevent this from happening. Improper cooling procedures for chicken; reviewed proper procedures and corrected in time to not require disposal. Observed intact cuts of beef in prep sink, where it is subject to splash from warewash sink; discussed how to flip a warewash sink into a prep sink and back. One cooler unit struggling to keep temperature due to damaged glass door; reduce temperature until glass can be repaired.

•Joe’s Beerman, 1561 Main St., Peckville. Most recent inspection: June 12. Inspection type: regular. Violations: warewash area of the food facility is dirty, dusty and in need of cleaning.

•McDonald’s #16047, 1511 Scranton-Carbondale Highway, Dickson City. Most recent inspection: June 12. Inspection type: regular. Violations: observed to-go box for the kids’ meal stored directly on the floor rather than 6 inches off the floor as required.

•Miners Beer Garden, 302 Pancoast St., Dickson City. Most recent inspection: June 9. Inspection type: regular. Violations: observed a large build-up of a moldlike substance on the cuber head of the ice machine. Ice was disposed of and machine was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection.

•Panchero’s Mexican Grill 3801, 2011 Shoppes Blvd., Moosic. Most recent inspection: June 11. Inspection type: regular. Violations: food facility has a certified food employee, but they are not employed in a position to act as the person in charge during their working hours. Observed rice being cooled in walk-in cooler in containers with tight-fitting lids, which is not a proper cooling method.

•Paradise Valley Plaza, 127 Route 106, Greenfield Twp. Most recent inspection: June 8. Inspection type: regular. Violations: no sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the restroom area to remind food employees to wash their hands. A sign was posted during this inspection. The interior ceiling of the microwave oven, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. The microwave oven was cleaned during this inspection. Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the kitchen area; soap was placed at the sink during this inspection. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the kitchen area; paper towels were placed at the sink during this inspection.

•Queen City Tavern, 400 Lackawanna Ave., Olyphant. Most recent inspection: June 11. Inspection type: regular. Violations: two low-boy refrigerators were observed at 50 degrees F during this inspection. The units shall not be used for temperature-controlled foods unless they are able to maintain a consistent temperature of 41 degrees or less.

•Sheetz #359, 610 Scranton-Carbondale Highway, Dickson City. Most recent inspection: June 15. Inspection type: regular. Violations: emergency door located in the retail area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals.

•Throop Six Packs to Go/Paul’s Quick Stop, 670 Sanderson St., Throop. Most recent inspection: June 11. Inspection type: regular. Violations: paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the restroom area. Paper towels were placed at the sink during this inspection.

Violations: a food employee was observed touching bread — a ready-to-eat food — with bare hands. Employee instructed during this inspection to use gloves, tongs or deli paper when handling ready-to-eat foods. Observed no chemical sanitizer being used on equipment and utensils after washing and rinsing them, and prior to use. Employee was instructed during this inspection the proper procedure for washing, rinsing and sanitizing all equipment and utensils.
