READING, Pa. – Reading welcomed two new homeowners Monday.
Habitat for Humanity celebrated the completion of a duplex on Miltimore Street.
New homeowners Obal and Jacqueline were given the keys to their new homes during a dedication ceremony.
They both completed Habitat for Humanity’s First-Time Homeowner Program.
To do that, Obal and Jacqueline spent 200 hours helping build or renovate Habitat homes.

“A long time, I was renting and being displaced, and high rent in the city makes it hard for people to even save up to, you know, purchase a home. But with Habitat for Humanity and Anita’s help, I went through the program, and I’ve been in my house about half a year now and I could not be more blessed.”
The new duplex is part of the Habitat for Humanity has been doing revitalizing the Buttonwood Gateway neighborhood.
Two other duplexes have also been built there.
