AMITY TWP., Pa. – A single-car crash early Saturday morning has taken the life of a Pottstown man.
According to the Berks County Coroner, the crash occurred at approximately 6:08 a.m. in front of 1832 Old Swede Road in Amity Township.
An initial investigation indicates that the 56-year-old victim, who was the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle by emergency responders and transported to the Emergency Department at Reading Hospital.
Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
The incident remains under investigation by the Berks County Coroner’s Office and the Amity Township Police Department.
