A man broke into a residence, attacked a man and threatened to kill a woman unless she and her 3-year-old daughter accompanied him, Scranton police charge.
James Melia broke into a home in the 1300 block of Penn Avenue on Saturday just after midnight, police said.
The woman and child accompanied Melia to a residence in Dickson City, where police found them uninjured.
Police apprehended Melia after a K-9 tracked him. He faces felony charges of kidnapping, robbery and burglary, in addition to misdemeanor charges of making terroristic threats and assault.
He remains at the Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on Monday before District Judge Paul Ware.
