PHL projects 5% more travelers for July 4 holiday than last year – NBC10 Philadelphia

As travel ramps up for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday and Philadelphia’s final FIFA World Cup match, the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is expecting more than half a million passengers during the first week of July.

PHL officials said they expect more than 681,000 arriving and departing passengers this upcoming week, a 5% increase from the same period last year.

These are the projected numbers, per PHL:

Wednesday, July 1: 98,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Thursday, July 2: 102,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Friday, July 3: 98,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Saturday, July 4: 74,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Sunday, July 5: 108,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Monday, July 6: 102,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Tuesday, July 7: 99,000 total arriving/departing passengers

However, the busy travel period at PHL is not ending anytime soon.

As passengers extend their holiday vacations and head to Philly for the the MLB All-Star Game activities, the airport anticipates welcoming approximately 601,000 arriving and departing travelers July 10-15. 

Projected daily travel for that week is:

Friday, July 10: 101,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Saturday, July 11: 112,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Sunday, July 12: 104,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Monday, July 13: 92,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Tuesday, July 14: 90,000 total arriving/departing passengers

Wednesday, July 15: 102,000 total arriving/departing passengers
