Food and art are joining forces in Philly.
The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) and Schulson Collective are partnering in celebration of America250 to launch The Curated Palette Series, a museum-to-meal experience inspired by the 17-month exhibition, ‘A Nation of Artists.’
Beginning July 1 with the inaugural theme, ‘Red, White & Blue: The American Palette,’ the series connects select works from PAFA’s collection with specially crafted food and beverage offerings at participating Schulson Collective restaurants.
Using a curated map, guests can begin their journey at PAFA, where they will check out the art, before heading to participating restaurants to enjoy cocktails, dishes, and seasonal specials all inspired by the creative works they just viewed. Visitors can also participate in a passport program, where they can collect stamps as they explore all the stops. Over its run, the Curated Palette Series will evolve, introducing a new seasonal theme and refreshed menu pairings as the months go on.
‘A Nation of Artists‘ itself will bring together collections from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Middleton Family Collection.
“A Nation of Artists celebrates American creativity through the artists and ideas that have shaped our nation,” says Kristen Shepherd, President and CEO of PAFA in a statement. “Installed throughout our recently restored historic landmark building, as part of our 220th anniversary, this exhibition is a unique opportunity to experience American art where U.S. history began.
“We are excited to partner with Schulson Collective on The Curated Palette Series, bringing art and dining together to create a uniquely Philadelphia experience that extends the exhibition beyond our galleries. As Philadelphia takes center stage for America250, PAFA is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to explore the nation’s artistic and cultural story.”
The participating Schulson Collective restaurants are all within walking distance of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), or are easily accessible by public transportation.
At Giuseppe & Sons, guests can enjoy favorites like meatball and gravy, hand-pulled mozzarella, spicy rigatoni alla vodka, and chicken milanese. Harp & Crown, on the other hand, is offering bites like pierogis, their signature cheeseburger, cockscomb mac & cheese, and a strawberry sundae, while Pearl & Mary will serve coastal-inspired dishes like a seafood tower, deviled eggs, a lobster roll, and heritage chicken. At The Lesieur, highlights include the Fisherman’s Box, a tableside Caesar salad for two, crab and caviar rolls, steak frites, and crispy petal onions. Via Locusta will join the lineup with Focaccia, stuffed French toast, Doppio ravioli, and poached branzino.
Throughout July, Prunella will also debut an exclusive Curated Palette pizza special as well (additional details to be announced). And finally, Independence Beer Garden, just steps from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, will serve colorful cocktails and classic American fare.
