After more than four decades in business, a beloved Erie bookstore is preparing to say goodbye.
Books Galore on Peach Street will close its doors for good on July 31, 2026. The shop, founded by the late Duane Wallin, has been a longtime community staple, known for its wide selection of books, comics, games, and more.
In a message shared on social media, the store announced plans for a farewell event on its final day. Customers will be able to shop storewide discounts, enjoy refreshments, and share memories on a special in-store wall.
Throughout July, regular hours will continue as everything in the store goes on sale. Customers are also encouraged to use any remaining gift cards before the closing date.
Books Galore thanked its loyal customers for their support over the years, saying the business would not have thrived without the community behind it.
