The Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension has reopened in the Lehigh Valley on Tuesday evening.
Interstate 476 northbound was closed for between the Lehigh Valley and Mahoning Valley interchanges following a crash after 4 p.m. at mile marker 63.1 in North Whitehall Township, according to a Turnpike travel advisory. Photos shared to the Lehigh Valley Breaking News Facebook page showed the crash involved a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle.
Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes.
Just before 7 p.m., the left lane of the highway at the crash scene was reopened to get traffic flowing again, according to an updated advisory.
“It will take some time to get everyone moving but you will be moving shortly, the Turnpike Commission posted on its X page. There was no timetable given as to when the highway would fully reopen.
No further details were immediately available about the crash.
