The crash at the intersection of Cherry Street and Pittston Avenue left two people hospitalized on Saturday.
SCRANTON, Pa. — Police are releasing more information after a crash Saturday afternoon involving electric bicycles in Scranton.
Investigators say two people riding e-bikes were traveling west on Cherry Street when they entered Pittston Avenue and collided with a vehicle that was traveling northbound.
Witnesses told police that both riders went through the posted stop sign before the crash. They were taken to the hospital; there is no word yet on their conditions.
Authorities say charges may be filed as the investigation into the crash continues.
The department is also reminding the public of the risks associated with electric bikes, saying they’ve seen an increase in issues throughout the city and surrounding areas.
Riders are required to obey traffic laws, including stopping at stop signs and traffic signals, yielding the right-of-way when required, and operating e-bikes safely and responsibly.
