BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Thousands of fans gathered on the SteelStacks lawn for some intense matches, but staying cool was the top of priority for everyone at Soccerfest.
“A lot of sunscreen and a lot of water,” one fan says.
Temperatures climbing well into the 90’s proved to be a tough opponent for Soccerfest fans Tuesday.
“We wish we came a little bit more prepared, like bringing sunscreen. Like a hat. Because it’s just been really hot today,” said Jocelyn from Allentown.
Local vendors say cold treats are in high demand as people try to beat the heat.
“Kids mostly like the ice pop, the popsicle, but adults gonna be, they eat the soft ice cream,” said Ibrahim, an ice cream truck driver.
Others had to brave the sweltering sun at the stacks, doing whatever it takes to hide from the rays.
“Stay in the shade, get the AC going, watch the game,” said Russell Corby. “Just do what you can. Really stay cool.”
“Forgot the sunscreen back at home, but yeah, I found a shady spot,” said Emmett Corby. “I got here nice and early, so I have the shade.”
But the temps didn’t stop fans from coming out to cheer for their teams.
Emergency officials continue to remind everyone coming out to Bethlehem this week to pace themselves and drink plenty of water.
