James J. Kisel
OBITUARY
James J. Kisel, of Dickson City, PA, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 95. Born in Peckville, PA and raised in Dickson City, he was the son of James F. and Helen Kula Kisel. His wife of 73 years is Mary Ann Hudak Kisel.
He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Parochial School, Dickson City and Scranton Preparatory School, class of 1948. Shortly thereafter, he served in the Navy for 4 years during the Korean War. Upon moving to Harrisburg, PA after marriage, he worked at the Telegraph Press and became a journeyman printer. After returning to the Scranton area, he worked at the Obrana press and Manus Langan Printing Co. Together with his wife, they started and owned Kisel Printing for over 30 years.
James will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was a respected businessman and a familiar face in the community. James was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, quick wit, and warm sense of humor. Outside of work, he was an avid and accomplished golfer.
He is survived by his five children: Kathleen Kane, of Ballston Spa, NY; Mark Kisel and wife Felicia, Jessup; Ann Osborne and husband Larry, Sewell, NJ; Paula Bjacek and husband Paul, Spring, TX; and Michael Kisel, Dickson City. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Sean Kane, Mark Kisel and Jill Steele, Lauren Lopez and Michael Osborne, John and James Bjacek, and Nikki DEttore, Matthew, Keiera and Karly Kisel, as well as 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Francis Canevari, Margaret Promovitz, and John Kisel.
There will be no public viewing.
A funeral mass will take place on July 3rd at 10am in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment of cremains will take place in St. Mary’s Mausoleum with military honors. Our family is forever grateful to the staff at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness they provided to James during his time there.
