PITTSBURGH, PA — A man’s body was found Sunday following a fire on Saturday in a building in the city’s Sheraden section.
Early on Saturday, firefighters and police responded to the two-alarm blaze in the 700 block of Hillsboro Street after a police patrol unit discovered the fire and observed flames coming from the
second floor of the structure. During the incident, the building partially collapsed, and the roof and third floor fell onto the second floor.
Firefighters established a fire watch at the scene and extinguished two subsequent flare-ups, one at approximately 4:45 a.m. and another at 7:20 a.m.
The man’s body was found on Sunday as plans to raze the structure were finalized. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to reveal the victim’s identity.
Police will remain on the scene until the building is entirely demolished.
The cause of the fire remains under invesigation.
