UPPER DARBY, PA – St. Demetrios Greek School in Upper Darby held its annual Greek Independence celebration with great joy and emotion on March 22, dedicated to the anniversary of March 25, 1821.
The students, under the guidance of their teachers, presented an excellent program with poems, songs and theatrical performances, honoring the heroes of the Greek Revolution and conveying to all of us the message of freedom, faith and love for the homeland.
The Director of the School and presiding priest of the community, Fr. Alexandros Kaitidis, emphasized the importance of preserving the Greek language, tradition and our faith, especially within the Greek diaspora, and warmly congratulated the students for their effort and presence.

The day’s celebration was coordinated by kindergarten teacher Maria Mirtsopoulou, conveying with emotion the meaning and ideals of this great national anniversary.
More than 250 people attended, showing the love and support of the community towards the school and the children.

It is particularly worth highlighting the hard and tireless effort of the school teachers, who with love, patience and dedication work daily to preserve our language and tradition, offering our children not only knowledge but also values.

Particularly moving was the participation of all the children of all grades who with pride and enthusiasm highlighted our Greek tradition and heritage.
