More than $140,000 is heading to several local nonprofits thanks to Erie Insurance’s annual Charity Challenge golf tournament.
The event, held at the Kahkwa Club on June 29, brought together area businesses for a day of competition with a purpose. Companies participating in the tournament directed their prize winnings to charitable organizations of their choice, turning friendly competition into direct community support.
The top-performing team from Logistics Plus, Inc. secured the largest contribution, earning $20,000 for Mercy Center for Women. The remaining funds were distributed among other selected nonprofits, with awards ranging from $4,000 to $15,000.
Erie Insurance covered the full cost of the tournament, allowing every dollar raised through team entry fees, sponsorships, and on-course contests to go directly to local organizations.
Since its launch in 2010, the Charity Challenge has donated more than $1.5 million to nonprofits across the Erie region.
“The Charity Challenge brings together businesses that share a commitment to strengthening our community,” said Jenny Geertson, Erie Insurance’s community outreach director. “Every organization receiving support this year is making a meaningful difference in the lives of people across our region. We’re proud to connect local businesses with nonprofits whose work creates a lasting impact.”
