Pennsylvania lawmakers failed to pass a state budget by the deadline, leaving the Capitol without a deal and delaying progress until after the July 4 holiday weekend. Senate lawmakers recessed and left the capitol Tuesday without a budget in place.Republican lawmakers raised concerns about spending in Gov. Josh Shapiro’s $53.3 billion proposal. Lawmakers also disagreed on proposed legislation to raise the minimum wage. The House was in regularly scheduled session on Wednesday.

Pennsylvania lawmakers failed to pass a state budget by the deadline, leaving the Capitol without a deal and delaying progress until after the July 4 holiday weekend.

Senate lawmakers recessed and left the capitol Tuesday without a budget in place.

Republican lawmakers raised concerns about spending in Gov. Josh Shapiro’s $53.3 billion proposal.
