Women’s empowerment walk: Women’s Empowerment Walk hosted by Still I Rise Empowerment Initiative, July 11, noon-4 p.m., Nay Aug Park, Scranton. This free community event is dedicated to empowering women, strengthening families and supporting women rebuilding their lives after incarceration. It will feature a guided Nature Empowerment Walk with motivational speakers stationed along the trail, sharing messages of resilience, healing and personal growth; somatic yoga focused on stress relief, healing, and reconnecting the mind and body; and community resource providers offering information on housing, employment, healthcare, recovery services, education and family support. Free food and refreshments available. Basket raffles and community activities. A special invitation for men in the community to stand alongside women in support of healthy families, successful reentry and stronger neighborhoods. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit women returning home from county, state and federal incarceration by helping provide essential resources, safe support systems, and opportunities to rebuild independent, stable lives free from domestic violence, homelessness and toxic environments.
