SCRANTON — The Community Intervention Center is open and available for homeless and other individuals seeking respite from the potentially dangerous heat, the organization announced in a Facebook post reminding the public that “all are welcome.”
“If you’re homeless or without shelter, don’t face the heat alone,” the post says. “Come cool off, get water, and stay safe.”
A National Weather Service extreme heat warning remains in effect for Lackawanna, Luzerne and other counties in the region until 8 p.m. Friday. The CIC, located a 445 N. 6th Ave., is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
