ALLENTOWN, Pa.- The Allentown Planning Commission has scheduled a special meeting to consider plans for a data center in the southern end of the city.
Those plans call for converting an existing warehouse at 2401 W. Emaus Ave. into a data center. The planning commission was scheduled to take up the proposal at a meeting nearly a month ago, but the review was postponed at the applicant’s request.
The 224,000 square-foot warehouse currently does not have a tenant. The application seeks to put a 23,342 square-foot addition on the property.
The applicant listed on the meeting agenda is Quantm Group, LLC.
Brian Hite, an assistant planner for the city of Allentown, told 69 News that there have been no revised plans submitted to the city since the postponement last month.
The special meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 in Allentown City Council chambers at 435 Hamilton St.
The planning commission will hold its regular meeting two days before that, on July 14, where it will consider proposed changes to the city’s new data center ordinance.
Those changes would not apply to the Emaus Avenue project, as those plans were submitted prior to the adoption of the original ordinance.
