ERIE, Kan. (KOAM) — A judge sentenced an Erie man to three years for sexual exploitation of a child.
The judge sentenced Peter Hawkinson to 36 months of community corrections for sexual exploitation of a child.
In April, Hawkinson pleaded ‘no contest’ to the crimes. The court accepted his plea and found him guilty of one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child. The remaining counts two through 25 were dropped.
Case Background
Peter Hawkinson, 42, was taken into custody on July 30, 2025, around 7:40 a.m. at a residence at the 2200th block of Ottawa Road in Neosho County. He was arrested on 24 counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of violating Kansas offender registration laws.
The crimes happened on March 25, 2025, according to court documents.
The arrest followed a search warrant carried out by KBI agents and the Neosho County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say the investigation began in May after the KBI’s Child Victims Unit received a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Hawkinson was booked into the Neosho County Jail.
