A local business owner is ready to offer more to the community when a new convenience store opens soon in Bethlehem.

A1 Quick Shop will most likely open by the end of December at 1225 N. New St. in Bethlehem, according to owner Iftekhar “Iffy” Ansari and a Lehigh Financial Group news release.

Operating under Ansari’s A1 brand of convenience stores and a laundromat, the store will offer items like groceries, drinks, tobacco, coffee and lottery tickets. It won’t sell alcohol, however.

“I hold all my stores to a high standard,” Ansari said in the release. “They are always clean, well-lit, and fully updated. They may not be Wawa, but they’re decent and respectable stores. Everything inside is brand new.”

The store will operate 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. all week, the owner said.

Outside of A1, Ansari is also searching for land or an existing warehouse in the Lehigh Valley to create a 24-hour, indoor recreational center to host pickleball, badminton, table tennis and a walking track.

“There’s a huge need for a facility like that in the Valley,” Ansari continued in the release. “As a professional marathon walker and badminton player, I know how important it is to have healthy spaces where kids and adults can stay active.”

Jeff Barber of Lehigh Financial Group financed the property purchase.
