SALISBURY TWP., Pa. – Nothing says summer like burgers on the grill. Friday’s Sunrise Chef is showing us why the simplest ingredients often create the best results.
Chefs Domenic Lombardo and Katie Horan from Northampton Community College visited 69 News at Sunrise Friday morning.
Here are the recipes they shared:
Basic Grilled Burger
Ingredients
· 2 lbs 80/20 ground beef
· 2 tbsp kosher salt
· 1 tbsp coarse black pepper
Method
1. Divide beef into 8 oz portions.
2. Form loose patties approximately ¾-inch thick.
3. Create slight indentation in center.
4. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper immediately before grilling.
5. Grill over medium-high heat (450-500°F).
6. Cook 4-5 minutes per side.
7. Add cheese during final minute.
8. Rest 2 minutes before serving.
Target Temperature:
· Medium Rare: 130-135°F
· Medium: 140-145°F
· Medium Well: 150-155°F
Grilled Gourmet Hot Dog
Method
1. Grill hot dog over medium heat.
2. Rotate frequently.
3. Cook until evenly blistered.
4. Place in toasted glazed bun.
Cook Time:
· 6-8 minutes
Air Fryer Hot Dog
Method
1. Air fry at 400°F.
2. Cook 5-6 minutes.
3. Turn once halfway through.
Result:
· Crispy exterior
· Juicy interior
Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog
Method
1. Wrap bacon around dog with slight overlap.
2. Secure with toothpick if needed.
3. Grill over indirect heat first.
4. Finish over direct heat for crispness.
Cook Time:
· 10-12 minutes
Butter Honey Glazed Rolls
Ingredients
· 4 tbsp melted butter
· 2 tbsp honey
Method
1. Mix butter and honey.
2. Brush onto outside of bun.
3. Sprinkle with:
o Sesame seeds
o Everything seasoning
o Dried onions
4. Toast on grill for 30-60 seconds.
